Common questions
Dictation shortcut isn't inserting text
Sotto needs Microphone access to hear you — grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone if you haven't already. Sotto copies the transcribed text to your clipboard, so press ⌘V to paste it wherever your cursor is.
Parakeet download is stuck, or I want to remove it
Open Sotto's Settings — the Parakeet section there lets you retry, cancel, or delete the downloaded model (about 470 MB) at any time.
How do I clear my dictation history or dictionary?
Both can be cleared from within the app — see History and Dictionary in the sidebar.
How do I uninstall Sotto?
Quit the app and drag it from Applications to the Trash, like any Mac app. Nothing else needs cleaning up — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what Sotto stores.
